Corn Party
May 23, 2011
One of my most vivid and best memories of my Grandpa (my Mom’s Dad) is having corn parties at his house. They lived about 2 blocks away from us, so I would pop over there frequently. He and his wife (my Grandma Elaine) would just cook a ton of ears of corn, make a simple salad, and that was dinner. We would feast on the front porch, armed with every kind of butter you could imagine, salt and pepper. It was one of the best dinners of my childhood.
I’m cooking my first ear of corn of the season tonight. It’s a bit early, but I can never pass up fresh corn on the cob at the grocery store. Thinking about you, Grandpa and hoping you are enjoying a lot of corn parties up in heaven….
